Course introduction
Course Title: Python for Data Science (Lab)
Course Code: CSE331
Credit Hour: 2
Python has become one of the most popular programming languages for data science due to its simplicity, versatility, and robust data analysis and machine learning capabilities. As organizations continue to digitize and generate increasingly large amounts of data, open-source tools like Python can enable data manipulation and exploration, machine learning, and statistical analysis in a scalable manner. This course provides a gentle introduction to programming in Python and its applications in data science and analytics.
Course objectives
Upon completing this course, students will have developed a foundational understanding of the Python programming language. Specifically, students will be able to:
- Understand the fundamentals of Python programming, including basic syntax, data types, control structures, and functions.
- Perform data analysis using
numpy
andpandas
, including data manipulation and exploratory data analysis. - Create effective data visualizations using
matplotlib
andseaborn
. - Produce dynamic statistical reports using interpreting and documenting visualizations and analyses of real-world problems.
